HRDA has issued an urgent appeal to the National Human Rights Commission of India on 2^nd August, regarding the murder of activist and lawyer Mr. Ajit Nayak. He was a noted criminal lawyer who turned activist fighting for civil and environmental rights.

On July 27, Mr. Ajit was returning home from the office at 9:30 pm. While he was approaching his car, some unknown assailants attacked and hacked him to death with sharp weapons at Sunday Market. Due to the attack, he sustained injuries on the left side of his ear and was rushed to a nearby hospital by a passer-by. It is apprehended that he was murdered because of the Moulangi Land issue.

HRDA prayed for a thorough investigation and to take immediate action on the perpetrators of the case.
