HRDA has issued an urgent appeal to the National Human Rights Commission of India on September 28 regarding the killing of Mr. Santanu Bhowmick, a journalist in Dinrat news channel at Mandai, West Tripura district, while he was covering an agitation by the Indigenous People’s Front Tripura (IPFT).

Mr. Bhowmick, a young journalist, was covering an agitation and road blockade called by IPFT on September 20, 2017, at Mandai in West Tripura district. According to sources, while covering the agitation he was hit from behind and kidnapped. Later, he was found with grievous injuries and rushed to the Agartala Medical College where the doctor declared him dead.
