The Human Rights Defenders Alert (HRDA) is specifically seeking the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to take suo moto cognizance of this incident, as per Section 12(a) of the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Act, 2019. The HRDA requests the NHRC to initiate an independent investigation through its investigation wing and to ensure prompt and impartial action to safeguard the detained protestors' human rights.
