HRDA has issued an urgent appeal to the National Human Rights Commission of India on March 31, 2021, regarding the threat and physical assault of HRD Mr. Ramchandran and negligence by Tamilnadu police. Mr. Ramchandra is a differently-abled HRD who works with Pathu Rubai Nottu an organization working for the welfare of people through filing RTI on various issues, including corruption, and providing community support to police on preventing illegal activities. 

Mr. Ramchandran had highlighted illegal activities around his locality which led to police action against those involved in such illegal activities. He constantly received multiple threats from them. He approached the local police to provide him with security, however, that was never granted. He had also filed RTI regarding corruption in the construction of individual household latrine, and this led to the arrest of the local panchayat members. 

Mr. Ramchandran was attacked on January 22, 2021, with iron rods and matchets, suffered serious injuries, and was hospitalized.
