HRDA has issued an urgent appeal to the National Human Rights Commission of India on July 18, 2019 regarding the intimidation, assault and illegal confinement of Mr. Anand.

Mr. Anand had filed a private complaint under Section 220 of the Indian Penal Code in the 1st ACCM Court, Bengaluru against the decision of the 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Mr. Mahesh ordering him 15 days custody in a false and malicious case. On April 26, 2019 when Mr. Anand was appearing in Case No. 28766 of 2018 in the 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bengaluru, around fifteen advocates, kidnapped and confined him illegally in their office within the court premises and injured him. The advocates threatened him and forced him to withdraw the private complaint and case that he had filed against the Magistrate Mr. M. Mahesh.

HRDA has prayed for immediate and impartial investigation into the above mentioned incident.
