Sunil Devdu, Ankit and Govinda are members of Chhatra Ekta Manch, a students organisation. 

The three were picked up by the Crime Investigation Agency of Haryana on June 19, 2022 and detained for 23 hours and were not allowed to meet their lawyer or provided any legal assistance. The police who picked them and detained were in plain clothes and flouted a host of arrest procedures. 

Human Rights Defenders Alert sent an urgent appeal to the National Human Rights Commission on their illegal arrest and urged the Hon’ble Commission to direct the Director General of Police of Haryana to initiate an immediate, independent, thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into the above- mentioned incident of violation of the DK Basu guidelines by the CIA and police personnel of Sonepat.
